SSO:USA Mission

The Society for the Study of Occupation (SSO: USA) is a dynamic research society dedicated to advancing occupational science and leveraging its findings for the betterment of humanity. Our mission is to foster the growth and dissemination of knowledge in the field, driving meaningful insights into the diverse ways in which individuals engage in occupations across the lifespan. By promoting interdisciplinary collaboration and supporting rigorous research, we aim to unlock the transformative power of occupation in promoting health, well-being, and social justice.

Position Statement on the Relationships between Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy

The board of the Society for the Study of Occupation: USA approved an Official Position Statement on the Relationships Between Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at its December 2019 Board Meeting. This document was developed by the Position Statement Task Force, with feedback from many members in attendance at the 2019 Annual Conference. This position statement will help guide the strategic planning now underway with the various task forces of the Society.

Position Statement Task Force Members included: Rebecca Aldrich, Antoine Bailliard, Jeanine Blanchard, Charles Christiansen (Chair), Sheama Krishnagiri, and Doris Pierce.
